There are just four days left to win a brand new car for £1 in this year’s annual Win a Car charity draw at the Eastbourne Arndale Centre.
The centre’s manager Bill Plumridge will make someone’s Christmas when he picks one lucky ticket from the thousands that have been sold since the event began 44 days ago.
The winner of the red Suzuki Splash, worth £9,300, will receive a phone call on Christmas Eve to tell them the good news.
This year, a record 48 charities will have benefited from Win a Car that raised nearly £23,000 last year, bringing the overall total since the event began in 2000 to nearly £220,000.
This is the 13th year of the event where every penny raised from ticket sales goes directly to the charities at a time when many still find themselves suffering in the economic climate.
The remaining charities in the centre will be SASBAH (today, December 21), Rotary Club of Eastbourne Sovereign (tomorrow, December 22), Cancer Research UK (Monday, December 23) and Rotary AM (Tuesday, Christmas Eve).
SASBAH was formed as an independent charity in 1965, in response to the growing demand for support services for those with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus in Sussex and it now offers support for nearly 500 people of all ages in the counties of East and West Sussex, and Brighton and Hove.
SASBAH general manager Rom Sanglaji said, “We are delighted to be back in the Arndale Centre today to take part in Win a Car which does such a great job raising money for so many different charities in the area. We really need events like this, not just for fundraising, but also to raise our profile and reach out to people who are not aware of the work we do.”
Bill Plumridge said, “It’s been another very good year for all the charities who have taken part in this year’s Win a Car. I would like to thank all our customers who have bought tickets.”
