TELL-tale footprints in the snow were left by a thief who stole a chicken from an allotment.
The owner was keeping it in his hen house in his garden in Blackman Avenue, St Leonards, when he discovered it missing last Thursday morning (December 2) at around 11am.
PC Duncan Cleverley, of Hastings Police, said: “His initial thoughts were that a fox had been responsible, but tell-tale human footprints in the snow and a section of chicken wire pulled apart told a different story.”
Police are advising poultry owners to take extra care in securing their birds, and would like to hear from anyone with information about who may have been responsible.
