Firefighters helped rescue an injured horse after it collapsed in Polegate this morning (November 13).

Fire crews from Hailsham were called to a stables in Sayerland Lane at around 9.10am to help the stricken animal.

The horse had fallen inside its stables and was unable to get back up inside the small space.

The firefighters called for additonal help from Kent Fire and Rescue’s animal rescue team and were soon able to get the horse to its feet.

The horse was left in the care of a vet.
