Firefighters investigate smoke in Eastbourne town centre

Reports of smoke in Eastbourne town centre sparked an emergency call to the fire brigade.

The call was raised after smoke was spotted in the basement of a property in Bolton Road.

An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the call had come in at 3.56pm this afternoon (Thursday, October 18).

Two appliances initially attended to investigate, although one has since left the scene.
