A fire engine has been involved in an accident in Eastbourne town centre this lunchtime (Friday).
A car collided with a fire engine at the junction of The Avenue and St Leonards Road.
Eye witnesses say a Ford Focus was in collision with the fire engine.
There were children in the back of the car and all have been checked by the ambulance service as were the firefighters onboard.
No one was injured.
A spokesman for the fire service said, “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service can confirm that one of our appliances was involved in an RTC in Eastbourne this morning.
“The incident involving a private motor vehicle occurred at 11:46 as the crew were responding to an emergency call in Grove Road.
“South East Coast Ambulance Service and Sussex Police also attended. There were no reports of any injuries.
“East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be working jointly with Sussex Police to determine the cause of the incident.”
