Festival promoting an active life

HAILSHAM Community College hosts a community festival in the town on Saturday, June 18.

The day will feature street dancing, a mobile skate park, climbing wall, police dog displays, sport taster sessions and much more.

Sports clubs and community groups will have information stands at The Active Communities Festival which starts at 10am.

Deputy town mayor councillor Richard Grocock said, “Hailsham Town Council is excited to be working once again with the Active Communities Festival to promote sports and physical fitness and get people active.

“The Festival will be a great way to learn a new sport or fitness activity to energise lives. This includes young people, people with a disability and the long-term unemployed.

“As well as encouraging physical activity and participation in sports, the event will incorporate the expansion of new opportunities within local sports clubs and organisations. And best of all, it promises to be a great event for all the family.”

The festival is funded through a community investment fund from projects like Active Play, Wealden District Council, Sussex Police, Freedom Leisure and the Square Youth Café.
