FORMER EastEnders baddie Larry Lamb is helping charity Age Concern Eastbourne celebrate its 65th anniversary in style next week.

The Gavin and Stacey actor will be attending the official birthday jazz party on Monday (October 10) at the William and Patricia Venton Centre, Junction Road, where his parents are regular visitors.

The party kick-starts a week full of birthday activities.

The events, all held at the centre, start with the birthday party at 10am on Monday with live music from The Big Jazz, performing popular swing hits from the 1940s and 1950s, and carry on through the week with everything from a Movie Day to World Celebration and Gardening Talk, culminating on Saturday (October 15) outside the Arndale Centre with live music from The Kingfishers, Eastbourne’s Scout Band.

Chief executive of Age Concern Eastbourne Clive Wormald said, “This is a big celebration.

“We hope everyone in Eastbourne will come along to the events and help us celebrate this achievement.

“It’s thanks to everyone that we have made it this far and with their continued support we can look forward to celebrating many future birthdays.”

The birthday jazz party, sponsored by Stephen Rimmer Solicitors, will also have complementary tea, coffee and cupcakes, courtesy of The Really Scrumptious Cake Co.

Tuesday’s celebrations will plunge guests into pure escapism with a Movie Day showing special screenings of The Third Man at 10am and Brief Encounter at 2pm, sponsored by Procter Health Care.

On Wednesday, the Eastbourne Cultural Communities Network sponsors World Celebration from 12pm to 3pm, with Sea Gypsy belly dancers entertaining guests, who will also enjoy traditional food from Portugal, Thailand, Nepal and Poland.

On Thursday, ESK will be conducting live demonstrations with the chance to purchase materials and accessories during their arts and crafts display from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

And on Friday everyone’s thoughts will head outdoors with a special Gardening Talk by Hillier gardening expert Andy McIndoe from 11am, sponsored by Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors.
