An Eastbourne-based charity is gearing up for the launch of its youth group next month.
Eastbourne Area Epilepsy Group is hosting an open day on September 14 for children aged seven - 19-years-old in Sussex with the condition to give them the chance to meet others in a similar situation.
The organisation was co-founded eight years ago by Andy Evans, who was bullied after suffering seizures as a schoolboy. He and the group have been keen to introduce a youth club for a while.
The Hampden Park resident said, “There’s been a lot of work that’s gone on with this and it’s great that we’ve got the club up and running.”
The open day takes place at Community Wise in Ocklynge Road between 10am and midday and will include pool, table tennis, crafts and refreshments.
Mr Evans is hoping the youth club will then go on to meet on a regular basis in Eastbourne and that outings can also be organised for activities such as ten pin bowling. He added, “We’re looking for young people and their families to have fun and share their experiences.”
The group now has a website which is up and running and people can find out more at: www.eaeg.org.uk Anyone who would like to go to the open day should call 07757 240331 or email: email@example.com for more information.
A parent should accompany their child to the youth club sessions.
