According to documents lodged with Wealden council earlier this month, Kent Entertainment Ltd – which owns the 78 acre farm land on Ersham Road – wants to see a mixed-use scheme on the site which would include up to 400 new homes, keeping the existing farm shop and butchers, office and commercial buildings, a creative arts centre/community building with extensive public open spaces and amenity and also maintaining the farm’s popular pick your own fruit areas. A pedestrian bridge is also included in the plans to link any new development to existing facilities at Stone Cross.

A spokesperson said in letters to the council’s planning department, “Kent Entertainment Ltd is keen to work with the council to develop a sustainable mixed-use solution for the site. The combination of assessment work will provide the baseline information to support the preparation of an outline application and to promote the site through the next stage of the Local Plan.

The proposals include a mix of one and two-bed flats and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses – 35 per cent of which would be affordable.
