A statement from the council said, “We had a number of hand drawn skate park ideas from younger users as well. It was great to see such interest in the new design and we would like to thank everyone involved.

“Polegate Town Council hope the new skate park will bring the residents of Polegate much enjoyment.”

The new Mayor Councillor Douglas Murray said “Brightling Road Recreation Ground is Polegate’s hidden gem, we have the skate park and basketball courts plus the meadow area and picnic benches and of course the wonderful miniature railway is situated here.

“We will be making major improvements to this area and will be consulting with residents via online surveys to hear what they would like to see included in our plans. We welcome your many ideas on how we can make this facility amazing.”

The council says there will eventually be two skate parks in the recreation ground.

It is currently consulting with residents about plans for the new concrete skate park and there is a survey to complete: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LJNWMXN
