South East Water are currently fixing a burst water main in Birling Gap Road.

“We have closed the road for the safety of pedestrians, motorists and our workforce while we carry out this emergency repair to the water main.

“Although our leakage team identified the burst on April 28, to avoid disruption to the busy surrounding roads over the bank holiday weekend, we delayed starting the repair until today (May 4).

“We anticipate the repair to be complete and the road reopened by Monday (May 10).

“Once again I’m very sorry for any disruption this emergency work may be causing and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while we carry out the repair.

Diversions are in place according to East Sussex Highways.
