Bid to stop drilling in Arctic

ENVIRONMENT campaigners from Eastbourne joined colleagues in nearby Hastings to protest outside a petrol station.

Members of Eastbourne and Hastings Greenpeace set up shop outside a Shell garage and asked passing drivers to support their campaign to stop Shell from drilling for oil in the Artic.

The volunteers included one who had dressed up as a polar bear, who happily handed out leaflets explaining the group’s stance.

Evie Sier, a Greenpeace volunteer from Eastbourne, said, “The Artic is a fragile and beautiful place.

“An oil spill there would be catastrophic. We really hope that folks will help to save the Arctic.”
