Emergency gas leak repair work causes traffic delays in busy Eastbourne road
Emergency repair work to a gas leak is reportedly causing traffic delays in a busy part of Eastbourne.
Urgent work is being carried out in Whitley Road which is causing a build-up of traffic – and delays are likely to continue according to SGN, the company responsible for the repairs.
An SGN spokesman said, “We’re working to repair our gas network in Whitley Road. We’ve installed temporary traffic lights to ensure everyones’ safety around our work area and to keep the traffic flowing.
“Our engineers are on site to fix the network as quickly and safely as possible. However, it’s still too early at this stage to say how long it will take to complete the work.”
Stagecoach SouthEast said on Twitter their services will be affected.
A spokesman said, “Urgent works in Whitley Road between the junctions of Firle Road and Waterworks Road. This is due to a gas leak.
“Services will be affected by this and we would like to thank you for your patience ahead of any delays.”
