Former stunt rider Eddie Kidd attended the Chaseley Trust gym open day last week. Eddie, who uses a wheelchair after a motorbike stunt went horrifically wrong in 1996, lives in Seaford.
Specialised equipment was available to try out including assisted pedals, cross trainer and a multi gym for upper limb strengthening, all suitable for wheelchair users or those with restricted mobility. Activate also has a treadmill, parallel bars and free weights.
Gym manager Rachel Wilson said, “I believe we are the only fully wheelchair accessible gym in East Sussex with specialised equipment designed for wheelchair users. Exercise is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle regardless of how many challenges people with disabilities face.”
Activate has plans to expand and will be adding to its range of accessible equipment.
