Eastbourne's controversial gap - work continues

Highways contractors are back working close to the new railway station taxi entrance and exit this week after motorists started using the gap to perform U-turns.

A spokesperson at East Sussex County Council said on Thursday, “We are currently putting in place a permanent solution to ensure that taxis are able to turn right out of the forecourt, but to discourage other motorists using this section of the road to perform U-turns. We apologise for any disruption this may cause but hope to have the work finished by mid-February.”

The work is part of a major transport improvement scheme by the county and borough councils.
