Eighteen teams from Eastbourne primary schools took part in the annual Pantomime Technology Challenge last week.
Organised by Eastbourne Education Business Partnership Ltd in association with Eastbourne Theatres, the challenge is part of their annual Engineering Club programme. The teams had received a letter from Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother who needed their help. The bad weather had affected her magical powers and fairy dust. Cinderella was going to need a multi-purpose cleaning machine to get all the housework done plus an all-terrain vehicle to get her to and from the royal palace.
The challenge provided the teams, working in pairs, with the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild, but, they needed to work to time using K’Nex construction components to create machines that were fit for purpose. They had just over an hour to do it. West Rise Junior School won.
