Lynn Parr, from Langney, matched five numbers to win the money, narrowly missing out on taking home the £25,000 jackpot.

The windfall is going to make her cruise through Asia in January into a very special holiday.

Lynn and her husband Pete are using the prize money to pay for day trips when their ship stops in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore and Vietnam.

They are also sharing some of the cash with family.

Lynn said, “It was a shock to find out we had won the money. We never win anything usually. We were just one number away from the jackpot too. But we’re more than happy winning this money.”

She has been playing Eastbourne Local Lottery since it was launched in May, paying £1 for her weekly ticket using monthly Direct Debit.

With 60p from every £1 ticket going towards local good causes – compared to just 28p in the pound for the National Lottery – Lynn saw Eastbourne Local Lottery as an opportunity to support Eastbourne Bonfire Society while enjoying a flutter.

She said, “We don’t do the National Lottery but decided to play this lottery because it’s local and as bonfire society members we thought it was a good way of raising funds for the society.”

This comes after five lucky players scooped £250 in one weekend last month.
