Eastbourne woman injured in serious crash

Police say an elderly Eastbourne woman is '˜seriously ill' in hospital after a collision in Seaford last night (Monday).

The 81-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after she was involved in a collision with a car on the A259 Buckle by-pass at around 6.30pm.

Police are now seeking witnesses to the collision, which involved a white Citroen DS3 car driven by a 20-year-old man from Seaford. Police say the driver was uninjured.

The collision occurred near the by-pass’s junction with Beacon Road and led to the A259 being closed to traffic for around three hours while the incident was dealt with.
