Thirty students from Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne, joined forces with 24 youngsters from The Eastbourne Academy to take part in The Rock Challenge competition at The Hawth in Crawley this week (Tuesday, March 3).
The College students, aged 16-18, included performers, stage crew and make-up artists/hairdressers.
The group travelled to Crawley to take part in the annual Rock Challenge, competing against eight other schools across East and West Sussex.
Sussex Downs College (SDC) teamed up with pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 from The Eastbourne Academy (TEA), making it a great opportunity for the youngsters to collaborate with older students.
Ten awards were available in the main show and the SDC/TEA team won a fantastic five of these! The awards were: Best Choreography; Best Drama performance; Best Performance Skills; Best Entertainment; Best Soundtrack; Healthy Lifestyle Award and the Cultural and Education Award.
There were an additional six written awards of which the team won two.
The Eastbourne Academy and Sussex Downs College team were place third overall, beaten to the top spots by Cavendish (first) and Hailsham Community College (second).
