Despite being the youngest contestant to appear on the BBC 2 show, Jade Earley made it all the way to the last episode before eventually losing out to Charlotte.

The grand finale had a suitably impressive theme, centred around elegant evening wear.

Finalists, Jade, Charlotte and Joyce, were asked to create a pin-tuck men’s dress shirt, transform a dinner jacket into a little black dress and finally create a floor-length evening gown.

Joyce impressed in the first round but it was Charlotte who was named the judge’s winner.

Eighteen-year-old Jade, a Sussex Downs student who says she prefers sewing to clubbing, used to be a competitive swimmer.

However, in 2012 an injury meant she could no longer swim and she turned to sewing to fill her time.

She says she is inspired by fashion magazines and dreams one day of opening her own haberdashery or having her own clothing line.
