Eastbourne RNLI were delighted to receive funds from a local boat club.
Members of the Eastbourne Model Power Boat Club (EMPBC) presented a £250 cheque to charity members at the lifeboat station on Sunday (September 18).
The money was raised by EMPBC members at fundraising events throughout the year.
The club’s chairman, David Hedges, handed the cheque to Jill Scott-Taggart, chair of fundraisers, and Lifeboat Operations Manager Carl Pocock.
Carl, in gratefully accepting the donation on behalf of the station, said the money would go towards crew training and station equipment.
They were then treated to homemade cakes, courtesy of Jill, and chatted to some of the lifeboat crew after their weekly training exercises.
Eastbourne has celebrated more than 185 years as a lifeboat station and currently operates an all-weather Tamar Class lifeboat, called Diamond Jubilee, and an inshore D-Class Lifeboat named Laurence and Percy Hobbs.
EMPBC is a group of model boat enthusiasts whose members sail regularly on the ponds at Eastbourne and Hailsham. The group’s website is www.empbc.org.uk.
