A pub landlord has been jailed for four years for attacking a man with a meat cleaver.
Terrance James Magee, formerly the landlord at the Prince Albert in Old Town, admitted causing grevious bodily harm when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court.
The attack happened in the early hours of Saturday July 21 in the High Street pub when it was closed.
Police were called and the victim was rushed to hospital with serious facial injuries.
Magee, 60, was charged with GBH and remanded on bail on condition he did not enter Sussex.
After he was sentenced, Detective Sergeant Suzy Joseph from East Sussex CID said, “This was a nasty attack and I am pleased that Magee will be off the streets for a considerable amount of time.”
