Towner Art Gallery is Eastbourne’s contemporary art museum.
Towner moved from its old site in the manor house in 2009 to the brand new building on the side of the Congress Theatre.
With over 4,000 works of art in its collection, the Towner holds the largest collection of work by English artist Eric Ravilious with over 600 paintings.
As well as the exhibitions, the Towner also has a very large outreach department which involves working with young offenders.
The Towner was established in the 1920s when upon the death of Alderman John Towner, 22 paintings were donated and the sum of £6,000 to establish a new art gallery in the town.
Towner has 1,200 square meters of gallery space which is the largest in the south-east.
