Police have revealed officers are looking at CCTV images of the lead up to the Eastbourne Pier fire which have been recovered from computer hard drives.
A team of forensic experts in Wales have spent months recovering images after the blaze at the seafront landmark on July 30 last year.
Detectives are still investigating the fire and treating it as arson.
The historic Blue Room and several shops were destroyed when fire swept along the building.
A spokesperson at Sussex Police said, “The fire that damaged Eastbourne Pier is still the subject of police investigation. Computer hard drives containing CCTV images from the pier in the time leading up to the fire were badly damaged in the blaze.
“However, they were recovered and specialist forensic work to access the information they contain continues. There is usable footage but we are still reviewing it. There are no images available to be released at this time.”
