Earlier this month 30-year-old Scott Hendrie, who is also known as the hip-hop artist Fullmarx, released his first full album on iTunes and Google Play.

The album, Welcome to the Greys, quickly reached the UK Top 40 rising to 12th position on the Google Play chart and 20th position on the iTunes hip-hop chart.

“It’s very good news, it’s been a very long time coming,” said Scott.

“I’m 30 years old now, which by industry standards is probably five or six years too old, but I’ve been performing and writing my own songs since before I left school.

“I’ve had a lot of false starts – been signed to a few labels and had deals that have fallen through – until I finally realised no one else was going to do it but me.”

Scott, who works as a floor layer in Eastbourne, began to manage his own career several years ago – producing and writing his own music and raising his profile through social media.

Since releasing the album on April 1, Scott has had offers to perform gigs at several venues up and down the country – including in Dundee and Perth.

He said, “It’s about as far as you can get from Eastbourne.

“I’ve got a bit of a following in Scotland after a song I wrote a few years ago became really popular there.

“It’s probably because it’s got a load of swearing in it.

“I really want to play Glastonbury before I stop performing.

“That’s my aim at the moment.

“Eventually I would like to get some work as a songwriter. Coming into the studio to help produce music before going back to the farm to grow vegetables and relax.

“But for the moment I really want to play on a stage – any stage – at Glastonbury.

“I’ve probably left it too late for this year but you never know.”

To accompany his new album, Scott has filmed a series of music videos around Eastbourne.

With the seven videos, which are expected to be released after filming finishes at the end of May, Scott hopes to continue to grow his ever-expanding audience on Facebook and YouTube.

He said, “It’s the next part of the marketing push of the album. I want to get it back into the top 10 in iTunes.

“It’s adult music, there’s bad language, references to drugs – well it’s hip-hop really.

“But there is a lot more going on then just the aesthetics of it.

“There’s wordplay and deep lyrics in it as well.”

Scott’s album Welcome to the Greys is available on iTunes and Spotify now.
