Eastbourne Mortuary has won a national poster competition run by the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technology (AAPT).
All mortuaries were encouraged to submit a poster on the subject of “HTA Best Practices”, which was judged at conference by Dr Pravat Bhattacharyya.
Eastbourne Mortuary, as part of the East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, decided to create a design based on consent specifically what is required prior to sitting down to have a difficult conversation for consent and to be able to make it a positive experience for all concerned.
By getting the best person involved and taking and removing barriers prior to seeking consent, it will produce a discussion that can be open, honest clear and objective and a valid consent can be gained.
The team used Microsoft Publisher to create the poster and the medical illustrations department helped producing the A3 laminated copy.
The poster was deemed to be informative, eye catching and aesthetically pleasing, and was hailed as the best design in the competition.
The results were announced at the HTA Conference 2014. For more information, including a chance to see the winning poster design, visit www.aaptuk.org/go/media:news,272.
