DEAFBLIND Awareness Week will be marked in Eastbourne with a stand in the Arndale Centre.
The awareness week runs from June 25 to July 1 and the display will take place outside Topshop on June 28 from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
The event will be formerly opened by the mayor Cllr Mike Thompson.
David Rowan, deafblind support worker from East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre, said, “Deafblindness can be, and often is, a very lonely and isolating existence, resulting in the individual withdrawing from society, which in turn affects their confidence, independence, communication skills, their ability to interact with the rest of society and can in extreme cases lead to the development of mental health problems.
“Sadly as we get older, it is an unfortunate fact of life that some of us may have to face these challenging and difficult issues.”
