Eastbourne man charged with driving offences after police car crash

A man has been charged with driving offences after he allegedly hit two police cars in Eastbourne.

Daniel Stephen Jones, 29, of Langney Road, Eastbourne, was arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a motor vehicle without a licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance in Eastbourne on Wednesday (May 4).

He has been bailed and will appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on May 8.

Jones is accused of driving off at speed from an unmarked police vehicle in Cavendish Road at 12.40pm. He then allegedly reversed back and hit that vehicle. As a marked police vehicle approached, he then reportedly reversed and drove towards that vehicle colliding with its bumper. He then made off and was arrested.

An officer suffered a minor injury to his leg.
