An Eastbourne man is one of 21 people who have been convicted of drink driving since Sussex Police’s Operation Dragonfly launched this summer.
Tadeusz Fijalkowski, 56, unemployed, of no fixed address, was arrested in Seaside Road on June 12 and charged with driving with 102mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system – nearly three times of the legal limit.
He pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on June 29 and was disqualified from driving for 24 months. He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, and pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
A total of 21 motorists have now been convicted since Operation Dragonfly, Surrey and Sussex Police’s summer crackdown on drink and drug-drivers, started on June 10.
