Eastbourne all-weather lifeboat crew was launched to help a fisherman who suffered head and shoulder injuries whilst hauling nets this morning (Friday, April 10).
The crewman was left dazed after a flailing net anchor struck him on the head and shoulder whilst he was manning the hauling winch six miles offshore from Eastbourne.
Following consultation with Dover Coastguard, Eastbourne’s all-weather lifeboat was requested to launch to assist.
Volunteer lifeboat crew were put aboard the fishing vessel where they administered first aid to the casualty.
He was then taken aboard the ALB and returned to Sovereign Harbour where he was transferred into the care of a waiting ambulance team.
