An Eastbourne woman has been banned from the road for a year after crashing her Mini into a tree while drink-driving.

Linda Thompson was arrested shortly after 2am on December 9 after she drove her car into a tree in Princes Road, Eastbourne.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drink-driving when she appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 11.

Thompson, of Cornish Close in Eastbourne, was banned from driving for 12 months, made the subject of a community order and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.

A total of 60 people have so far been convicted after being arrested as part of Operation Dragonfly, Sussex Police’s December drink and drug-driving crackdown.
