Eastbourne cyclist’s cheekbone broken in an attack


Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 36-year local man who was attacked in Trinity Place on Sunday August 18.

The victim was cycling home along Seaside Road when the assault took place.

He was chased from Seaside Road into Trinity Place by three men who attacked him and left him with injuries to his face including a fractured cheekbone as well as bruising to his body.

Police have descriptions for two of the three suspects.

The first suspect is described as a white man, aged 20 - 30, 5’10”, of slim build with short dark hair.

The second suspect is also described as a white man, aged 20 - 30, and 5’10”. but of average build and with short ginger curly hair.

Detective Constable Hannah Rayner said, “The motive for the attack has not yet been established and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call us on 101 quoting serial 0263 of 18/8.

“Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
