The Archway Choirs have been chosen to take part in the legendary rock musical Godspell in Concert at The Brighton Dome on April 26.

The local singers will be part of the ensemble cast which will include X Factor star Andy Abraham, Sugababe Jade Ewen, Voice Up star Leanne Jarvis and Jersey Boys star Tom Senior.

Archway Choirs was formed in 2009 by Jane Reeves, a professional vocalist and musician who moved from London to Seaford.

It began with one contemporary choir in Seaford and now there are five, contemporary and gospel, around East Sussex, including one in Eastbourne.

The idea was to enable those who don’t read music to still join and the choirs have accompanied Blake on their tour and also supported Richard and Adam at The Congress Theatre. From humble roots they have grown under the supportive leadership of Jane Reeves who still continues to provide all arrangements.

The Archway Choirs will be coached to their moment in the spotlight by musical director Russell Scott, who said, “Across the country the standard and volume of choirs applying to join us as part of the Godspell in Concert tour has completely exceeded our expectations. We have reworked the orchestration for an ensemble and adding choirs extends the community feel of the show, adds an exciting new dimension to the score and brings with it additional electricity. In this intimate concert format, it will leave the audience feeling exhilarated and uplifted.”
