Eastbourne 87-year-old due in court over child sex abuse charges

An 87-year-old man from Eastbourne is to appear in court next month charged with four sexual offences against two girls.

Norman Askew, 87, of High Street, Pevensey, is due to appear on bail for trial at crown court on Monday August 10.

He faces indictments of one rape and two indecent assaults.

He also faces an indictment of one indecent assault on a girl.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said the charges were historic and the alleged offences happened in East Sussex in the 1980s.

Askew pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing.
