THE FILM Forum meets in the Brodie Hall of Christ Church on Friday, January 28, at 7pm, when there will be an opportunity to watch a full length film, followed a general discussion. A contribution of £2 is requested to help cover expenses.

A QUIZ night will be the next social and fundraising event at Christ Church and will be held in St Augustine’s Hall, facing Hanover Road, on Saturday January 29 starting at 7.30pm.
The quiz will be played in teams of six, and the rounds will be fashion, music, sport, history, geography, Music Hall, natural history, and general knowledge.
The cost is £6 per person, which includes a supper of soup and a roll followed by gateaux. To reserve a table call Meg on 487229 by Thursday, January 27.
THE ROYAL National Lifeboat Institute is having a sponsored Welly Walk on Sunday, January 30.
The walk starts at the boathouse in Sovereign Harbour at 10am, passing the Inshore Lifeboat Station at 11am, and finishing at the RNLI Museum on the Wish Tower slopes at noon.
The Langham Hotel in Royal Parade will be providing coffee and biscuits for walkers as they reach that point on the promenade.
The event will include a competition for children and a prize for the best dressed wellies.
Adults pay £4 to register in advance, or £5 on the day. Children £3 in advance, £4 on the day.

FORMER Mayor and Mayoress of Eastbourne, Councillor Greg Szanto and Mrs Clare Szanto will reveal all about their time in office at a lunch on Monday, January 31.
Called A View From The Top, the new series of lunches will have guest speakers that have reached the heights in their profession, and will be interviewed by Paul James about their life and work, spilling the beans on the highlights, lowlights, and some of their extraordinary experiences.
The lunch will be held at the Langham Hotel in Royal Parade at noon for 12.30pm and costs £16.

ST JOHN Ambulance Retirement Fellowship meets at St John Headquarters, Bourne Street, on Thursday, February 3, at 2.15pm.
New members will be made very welcome, whether retired or ex-members of St John or anyone interested in the work of St John Ambulance.

THE WALSINGHAM Cell at Christ Church next meets on Monday February 7, when there will be a Mass for Our Lady of Walsingham.

This year’s pilgrimage is planned for September 16-18.
EASTBOURNE Friendship Centre meets twice a month at the Langham Hotel, Royal Parade, for afternoon tea with an invited speaker, and for morning coffee. The group also meets once a month for Sunday lunch at a variety of local venues.
The group was established in 1990 and is now entirely independent. New members aged 50 and over are always welcome. For more information, call the secretary on 646115.
THE FRIENDSHIP Club for senior citizens meets every Thursday in the lounge of Duke Bernard Court, Latimer Road, from 2.15pm to 3.45pm. Members meet on a social basis to chat over a cup of tea, or take part in quizzes or games.
The weekly subscription is 50p to cover the cost of refreshments.
