A COFFEE morning will take place on Saturday January 15 at Polegate Community Centre. The event will be hosted by Polegate Playgroup and all are welcome in the lounge from 10am.

POLEGATE Drama Group’s pantomime is Aladdin, box office now open. Tickets are available from Archer and Partners, 48 High Street, Polegate, priced at £8 for adults, £5.50 for children. The show runs from January 15, 2011 to Sunday matinee January 23, at 2pm.

CAN YOU sing in harmony? If so, come to Trinity Church Hall, Coppice Avenue, Willingdon on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm where the Downland Singers will be holding their practices. All volunteers are welcome, especially tenors and basses. For more information call 484189.

POLEGATE and Willingdon local history society next meets on Friday January 21. The speaker will discuss Eastbourne’s Royal Hippodrome, Eastbourne. All welcome from 7pm at St Johns Church Hall, High Street, Polegate. Doors open at 6.45pm and visitors are welcome. Call 484293 or 486208 for more info.

POLEGATE Twinning Association is hosting a Burn’s Night celebration on Saturday January 22 at St Johns Church Hall, High Street, Polegate. The event begins at 7.30pm and features a supper of haggis, with carrots, neeps (swedes) and tatties, and sausages will also be available for those who do not like haggis. Guests should bring their own drinks and glasses.

They can also look forward to English country dancing alongside the classic Gay Gordon and sometimes even a Canadian Barn Dance.

The association also has bagpipe music to “play in the haggis” to get them in the mood.

Tickets are for sale at the centre greengrocers (by the Polegate Co-op) at a cost of £9, to include food. Buy your ticket before 20 January so the association can cater for everyone.

This is a double anniversary year for the group, celebrating 20 years of association with its twin town in France and 30 years with a German twin town. If you are interested call 641281, 486021 or 849392.
