DYW: Langney - December 8, 2010

WITH the snow dominating the news, we decided it wouldn’t be fair to leave it out of this column either.
The Blue Square Bet Premier match between Eastbourne Borough and Gateshead that was due to be played last Saturday, was postponed due to the weather.
The Priory Lane pitch was under several inches of snow last week and it was declared unlikely to be passed fit before Gateshead were due to travel down to Sussex.

The game will now be played on Tuesday February 1.
The other postponed Eastbourne Borough match has also been rearranged.

The trip to Southport, which had been brought to Saturday November 27, has now been moved back to its original date of Saturday April 2 (weather permitting of course).

So, providing we have no further interruptions, this week should welcome Boreham Wood to Priory Lane.

This should be a hard fought game between both sides in the first round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy.

Kickoff is at 3pm on Saturday (December 3).

ST AIDAN’S Praise Singers present to you A Christmas Celebration at St Barnabas United Church in Kingfisher Drive. This takes place on Tuesday 14 December at 7.30pm.

Why not go along and share some festive joy with your friends?

Bishop Bell held the school production Oliver recently.

The cast clearly enjoyed every moment of it and there were some outstanding performances.

Head of school, John Ross would like to offer his congratulations and thanks to all pupils and staff involved.

John has also just received a letter from Steve Munby, chief executive of the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children’s Services.

This was following their Ofsted inspection earlier in the year.

It read: ‘I just wanted to congratulate you and your school for receiving an overall outstanding judgement in your recent Ofsted inspection - in particular the leadership and management grade.

This is a great achievement and a real tribute to your leadership, as well as to the hard work and expertise of your colleagues.

Well done! What more can be said? Excellent news for one of districts schools.

Langney market is available for you throughout the winter (although questionable when the snow falls as heavy as it has been).
