DYW: Hampden Park - December 8, 2010

DURING this awful weather, it is nice to have something local to look forward to - on Saturday, December 11, in St Mary’s Church Hall, Decoy Drive, there is a Christmas coffee morning, 10am -noon. Go along, have a nice hot cup of coffee, and buy some raffle tickets, as prizes include Christmas hampers!

On the same day at 3pm there is Carol singing in Hampden Park village. Another good way to keep warm is to sing heartily, so why not join in the singing, and admire our lovely Christmas lights?

ON Sunday, December 19, local churches are participating in a Churches Together afternoon of Carols and poems, at St Peter’s Church in the Hydneye, starting 3pm. Congregations from all the local churches will be there, and everyone is welcome.

WOULD your children like to join in some winter play sessions?

On Saturday, December 11 and Saturday, December 18, 1pm-4pm your offspring can go along to Willingdon Trees Community Centre in Maywood Avenue, where Sue Morris, Eastbourne Borough Council play ranger and her qualified staff, will offer games, crafts, toys, and a healthy snack. You need to book in advance - 01323 415465 or 07930 144376 for details.

DURING the week before Christmas, on Monday, December 20, Tuesday, December 21 and Thursday, December 23 at Hampden Park Sports Centre in Brodrick Road, there will be fun sessions for the four-to-12-year-olds, from 9.15am-12.30pm -bouncy castle, football, arts, crafts, basketball and musical games. In the afternoons there will be specific sessions including dodgeball and trampolining. Book your child’s place or find out more details on 01323 509859.

WOULD you like to be part of a small group helping Hampden Park village, or any other part of our area, to join an It’s Your Neighbourhood campaign being promoted by the Royal Horticultural Society, who are the sponsors of Britain in Bloom? It is being launched to encourage small groups to get involved in ‘cleaning and greening’ areas in their neighbourhood - it could be a street, alley or community space that would benefit from some Tender Loving Care. More details from Olive Woodall on 01323 505740.
