UNIHORN: Will be entertaining customers at the British Queen at 8.30pm tomorrow, Saturday.
PUDDING NIGHT: John and Maureen Males are organising one of their ever popular pudding nights for 7pm tomorrow, Saturday, at the Cottage in Dittons Road Polegate in aid of the JPK Sussex Project which aims to provide supported residential accommodation for people with a learning disability. Donations of puddings would be welcome. Guests will be able to sample the puddings and judge which they prefer. Book your place by ringing Maureen on 01323 482011.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Polegate Windmill will be having their Christmas Bazaar from 10am to 12.30pm tomorrow, Saturday, at St John’s Church Hall in Polegate. There will be a large variety of stalls.
MESSY CHURCH: At St Mary’s Church Willingdon is held on the first Saturday of the month except August and December and is intended for children and their guardians. The next one is from 3pm to 5.30pm tomorrow, Saturday, in St Mary’s Church Hall and everyone is welcome to come along and join in the bible themed craft activities, followed by family worship and singing in the church from 4.30pm to 4.50pm and then back to the hall for something to eat. There is no charge for Messy Church and there is no need to book in advance, just go along in the time you have available. AN ADVENT CAROL SERVICE: Will be held at 10.30am on Sunday at Trinity Church. It will be led by Rev B Wightwick. It will be an opportunity to donate non-perishable items of festive food and seasonable luxuries for the Eastbourne Foodbank. These can also be taken along at the following two Sunday services.
THE SALVATION ARMY BAND: Will be giving a carol concert to which everyone is invited at 3.30pm on Sunday at Sunrise Senior Living 6 Upper Kings Drive. There will also be a Christmas Fete from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday December 5 at Sunrise with traditional stalls and gifts. Money raised will be donated to the Friends of the DGH. The Everyman Ensemble will also be performing.
THE MOTHERS’ UNION: Will be having an advent carol service in St Mary’s Church Willingdon at 2pm on Tuesday followed by tea and mince pies and an exchange of Christmas cards.
THE 3 MMM’S: (Mrs Miss and Ms) are having a visit to Hilliers Garden Centre on Wednesday for shopping, tea and a chat, meeting there at 2pm.
ANITA HATCH: Who runs Anita’s Beauty Works, will be marking the salon’s tenth year anniversary on Thursday. Do go along between 4.30pm and 8pm and join Anita and her assistants Shari and Beth in celebrating the occasion in style and enjoy a prosecco cocktail or a soft drink and nibbles. There will be free goodie bags available, discounted treatments and discounted vouchers and Christmas gifts from £4 upwards, which have all been beautifully gift wrapped. Anita’s mother, who has always been very supportive, will also be there to lend a hand. Visitors will be able to try out the various Thalgo products, and a Thalgo representative will be on-hand to give individual advice on skin care. She will be offering facials within the salon on Friday December 5. It is advisable to book to save disappointment.
WI: Jevington and Filching WI will be having their Christmas meeting and party at 2pm on Thursday at Trinity Church Hall.
CHRISTMAS GALA: Trinity Church in Coppice Avenue is the venue for a Christmas Gala at 2.30pm on Saturday December 5. The gala will feature the Downland Singers and Wealden Brass. Programmes for admission are £5 each and can be obtained in advance at Trinity Church or from Wealden Brass or by ringing 01323 484189. Alternatively they can be purchased at the door on the night. Refreshments will be available during the interval.
THE GLEN CHORALE: Will be presenting their next concert entitled Walking in a Winter Wonderland at 2.30pm on Monday December 7 and at 2.30pm on Monday December 14 at Wannock Village Hall. The musical director is Ansy Boothroyd and the accompanist is David Alexander. The programme includes Wexford Carol by Rutter, Deck the Halls arranged by Willcocks, Ave Maris Stella by Grieg, In the Bleak Midwinter by Darke, A New Year Carol by Britten, and White Christmas by Huff. There will also be traditional carols with audience participation. Tickets to include refreshments are £6 each and can be obtained by ringing 01323 502113. There will be a retiring collection for the Demelza Children’s Hospice.
CHRISTMAS CAROL EVENING: Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council will be hosting their annual carol evening on Thursday December 10 at Willingdon Triangle commencing at 6pm.Various activities will be taking place in Willingdon Library Coppice Avenue where Father Christmas will be handing out presents to children. The Kingfisher Scout Band will be performing in Orchard Parade from 6.30pm to 7pm followed by carol singing supported by Wealden Brass. Sheet music is usually handed out. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served and Brains the Butchers will be providing hot food. The Triangle Café will also be serving hot drinks and food. There will be stalls in Trinity Church Hall, perfect for buying a few Christmas presents and supporting some local charities at the same time. Members of the parish council look forward to seeing as many people as possible there. It is primarily a community event and a celebration of Christmas. But do bring a torch or lantern and wrap up warm.
