SOLAR FARM: Regarding the community solar farm just north of Berwick Station. Alister Scott, Chair of Cuckmere Community Solar, which is leading the way with the UK’s first joint commercial-community solar farm, has now applied for planning permission for this pioneering scheme. This project has taken an enormous amount of commitment from not only a group of local people but also the developers of the existing commercial solar farm, who have put in a huge amount of time and money to get us to this point, entirely at their own risk. Consequently, you are invited to a community information drop-in event to find out about plans to build the first community owned solar farm in Sussex at Dicker Village Hall, Coldharbour Road on Friday 9 October from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday 10 October from 9am to 12pm. Come and meet the Cuckmere Community Solar Company and find out about this exciting project which, if approved, will be discretely located adjacent to the existing Berwick Solar Farm at Wick Street. The planning application should be live on the Wealden District Council web site by the time you read this – full details at the event. There are many opportunities to be involved from helping us build bug hotels, to choosing wild meadow grass, planting trees, becoming a shareholder and developing the criteria for our community fund. Community benefit is at the heart of this initiative, so we need as many people involved as possible. For more information or to be in touch, visit our website

MICHELHAM PRIORY EVENTS: For more information visit but in summary coming up soon is a Halloween event on Saturday and Sunday 30 and 31 October. Traditional entertainment with Punch & Judy, drama sessions, crafts and Hallowe’en fun. And a Ghost Walk on 31 October.
