QUIZ NIGHT: Next Friday 3 July there is a quiz night with the theme of food and drink at Arlington village hall at 7pm. Entry is £3 per head and crisps will be provided on tables. You are welcome to bring more nibbles along! Bottles of wine will be available for purchase on the night. Donations of food related raffle prizes would be most welcome (given to Wendy beforehand if possible at Underwood Farm). Teams of up to 6 people welcome. PARISH COUNCIL: The PC has been consulted on items as diverse as WDCs draft housing strategy to the Gatwick long term aviation capacity consultation. Parts of Arlington have been put forward to WDC as a possible conservation area, villagers would however be consulted before WDC made a decision on this. The PC has unfortunately had to increase the precept by £996 which is a 6.46% rise, equating to an extra £1.87 a year for a Band D property. The PC is supporting Upper Dicker village hall with a grant of £1000 towards essential maintenance work. No other grant requests were received from village organisations. The PC also continues to precept for £1200 towards Highways improvements that the Parish Council can then fund. The PC continues to liaise with the police over problems and thank PCSO Mark Carter for his tireless efforts.
DICKER DAY: This will be held at The Plough Inn on Saturday 4 July from 1pm to 6pm. There will be music, craft, food and Dicker history stalls. Go along and support Park Mead School, Dicker hall and Holy Trinity Church. Food available from The Plough and you can book your table now on (01323) 844859.
SUMMER IN BLOOM: There is a 90 minute garden tour starting at 11am at Michelham Priory tomorrow. The tour will take you on an exploration of the seven acres of historic gardens as they are in full bloom, with the head gardener, James Neil. Price includes entrance to the house and grounds, tour, soup and fresh bread roll in the café. £15 non-members, £10 for Sussex Archaeological Society Members and Friends of Michelham Priory.
