THE FRIENDSHIP CLUB: for senior citizens will have their monthly meeting on Thursday October 29 in the lounge of Duke Bernard Court, Latimer Road, from 2.15pm to 3.45pm. Members meet on a social basis to chat over a cup of tea, or take part in quizzes and games. There is a small subscription to cover the cost of refreshments. FILM FORUM: meets in the Brodie Hall of Christ Church on Friday October 30 at 7pm when a full length feature film will be shown, followed by a short general discussion. The theme will be The Struggle of Aung San Suu Kyi. The cost is £2 per person. AN ALL SOULS’ SERVICE: will be held at Christ Church in Seaside on Sunday November 1 at 3pm to remember the departed. Bereaved families who have lost family members and friends are invited to attend and the names of lost loved ones will be read out during the service. If you have someone whose name you would like included so that they can be prayed for, you can email details to or call 728522. There will also be a Requiem Mass for the departed on Wednesday November 4 at 11.30am.

A RECENT COMEDY LUNCH: with The Dowager Lady Crabtree at the Langham Hotel raised over £2,600 towards a new extension to the club house of Gildredge Park Bowls Club. Langham proprietor Neil Kirby donated £2,300 from the event and a raffle provided a further £320. The Bowls Club needs to raise a total of £25,000 to complete the works.
