CHURCH SERVICES: The All Saints Service is instead taking place at the Friends Meeting House at 11am. The next service at St Mary Magdalene is on Sunday September 6 at 8am Holy Communion (BCP) and 6pm Evensong (BCP).

BOWLS: The bowling club had three friendly games last week. The first was arranged by Peter and the club would like to offer their thanks for a very enjoyable day and match against Brenchley and Matfield in which they scored 68 to the host’s 71. The second match was against Royal Sovereign 75 to Herstmonceux’s 71 and finally a win for Herstmonceux at 97 shots to Polegrove’s 38.

WALKS: On Tuesday the walking group will be meeting at 6.30pm at St Bartholomews Church. Cross-in-Hand for a pretty woodland walk of 2.5 miles. Contact the walk leader, Sue 848790, if you would like to go along. New members and well behaved dogs are welcome.

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The Windmill Hill group meets on Thursday in Reid hall, Boreham Street at 7pm for 7.30pm start. This month there is a talk on Bees and Honey by Roger Patterson. Free Parking. For information and membership details contact Alan on 833626 or email alan.benrica@phonecoop.coop.

ENGLAND’S MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL: This annual event takes place at Herstmonceux Castle over this weekend Saturday to Monday from 10am to 6pm daily, rain or shine. SHOW OF HANDS: For the very last time, Phil and Steve (Show of Hands) invite you to join them for a couple of days in the beautiful and relaxed setting at Herstmonceux Castle on Wednesday and Thursday. This time along with the usual workshops, informal performances and late night sing-arounds, they will (with your help) be recording a new album on site, ready for an autumn release date. LUNCH CLUB: Herstmonceux Lunch Club is held in the village hall on the second and fourth Monday of the month. The Lunch Club offers not only a delicious home cooked meal to Senior Citizens in the community but also an opportunity for people to socialise and catch up. Without the help of volunteers this group would not be able to run and a great asset would be lost. If you are able to offer assistance, the group is looking for cooks and general helpers and would be very grateful for your help, it is approx. two to three hours every four to six weeks.
