COFFEE MORNING: The Bishopstone Last Friday of the Month Coffee Morning will resume on Friday January 29, 10.30am to noon in Bishopstone Parish Hall.
FREE HORSE MANURE: Is available on west (Newhaven) side of Bishopstone Road between Bishopstone Estate and Bishopstone Pond: help yourself, but please return or replace the bags.
HELP WANTED: If you have a few hours to spare now and then to keep St Andrew’s Church open for visitors, then please help by filling in the rota; the church also needs additional help in completing its cleaning rota. The Bishopstone St Andrew’s is the oldest church in the area, built some thirteen hundred years ago probably to house the original shrine of St Lewinna, discover the church’s fascinating history.
FLOODS: This year we were spared the floods of past years unlike the northern counties. A notable one in 1824 is reported to have carried a barge past Bishopstone up to Norton, although it must have skipped over flint walls to get there. In 1795 another boat was swept into the creek at Tide Mills, bad luck for the smugglers involved.
