BEACH CLEAN: Tide Mills Community Beach Clean, 10am to noon, Sunday October 18. Meet at the beach end of Mill Drove (off the A259). Come along, grab a bag and a litter picker, and help clean up the area for visitors and the local wildlife.
FREE HORSE MANURE: Available on west (Newhaven) side of Bishopstone Road between Bishopstone Estate and Bishopstone Pond: help yourself, but please return or replace the bags.
COFFEE MORNING: The Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning raised a record amount of £810.39. The organisers wish to thank all those who made this event such a success.
WINTER: In Saxon times, when the church was built, the October full moon marked the start of winter. Earlier, in the Roman calendar, October was the eighth month and not the tenth which is why it’s October and not December. Later, two extra months were added (January and February) when the Romans stopped ignoring winter.
