THE SUNSHINE: Has brought welcomed visitors to the village. The past weekend had Follers Manor Open Garden and in the Church the Pro Musica concert. Both were very well attended. Like many small villages, Alfriston relies on visitors and seeing families picnicking on the Tye and hearing the ‘how’s that’ shouts from the cricket field says summer is really here.
THE GEORGE INN: Will be hosting a return visit from the Good Company. This group of musicians tour raising money for local charities. This year’s tour is entitled The Great English Pub Crawl and the Good Company will be performing at The George tonight, July 3 at 8 pm.
THE FRENCH MARKET: Is returning to the Tye on Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. Last year there was brisk trade in croissants, freshly baked French loaves, cheese and garlic etc. Not only offering some French delicacies but also giving an opportunity to practice French language skills.
A SUMMER CONCERT: The concert in St Andrew’s will be on July 11 at 7pm with the Seaford Choral Society (some Alfriston residents are members) performing a selection of European choral songs including works by Monteverdi, Gershwin and Elgar. Soloist Sian Griffiths (Mezzo Soprano) and Organ and Piano accompanist Nick Milner-Gulland will be led by Anna Tabor. Tickets £10 (£5 for 16 years and under) can be bought from Steamer Trading in the village High Street, or Newbury Tully Estate Agents at 53 Church Street, Seaford or on the door.
