THE NEXT production by the Haven Players will be the endearing comedy Calendar Girls, based on the Miramax Film, screenplay by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth, adapted for the stage by Tim Firth.

Performances will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 21, 22 and 23 at 7.30pm in Stone Cross Memorial Hall. Tickets - adults £7, students £4 - now available on 01323 460174.

The reputation of the Haven Players goes before them and all their productions are always eagerly awaited and very well attended.

The Group meets every Wednesday in the hall, 7.30pm-10pm for rehearsals. If you are interested in joining, either as an actor or back stage helper, you will be warmly welcomed.

WESTHAM Evening WI holds an Autumn Fair on Saturday, September 29, in Westham village hall, starting 10am, with many different stalls.

THE next concert by the Eastbourne Organ and Keyboard Club is on Tuesday, October 2, in Westham Village Hall, starting 7.30pm (doors open 6.30pm). These concerts are held on the first Tuesday of each month and music provided by professional organists (Andrew Nix this time). Entrance is £4 for members, £6 visitors. The well-established -concerts are open to the public - two hours professional show with refreshments. Contact the chairman, Charles, on 01323 762411.

THE Duke of Devonshire has his ancestral home at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. It was built in 1687 by the first Duke of Devonshire and well merits its leading place among the stately homes of England for it is magnificence, both externally and internally.

There is a chance to visit this wonderful building to see how Chatsworth is magically transformed for Christmas. The organised trip leaves Stone Cross on Friday, November 30, visiting Chatsworth House on Saturday (entrance is included) and returning on Sunday having made a stop at a suitable location.
