A COFFEE Morning will be held at Christ Church on Wednesday December 5, 9.30am-11.30am. A new heating system is due to be installed in the church next April at a cost of over £165,000, of which approximately £11,000 still needs to be found. This means fundraising events, such as coffee mornings, are especially important at this time and every penny raised goes to ensure that Christ Church remains in use for the local community and will have heating in the winter.

ROSELANDS and Bridgemere Neighbourhood Panel holds a public meeting for residents at the Bridgemere Centre in Bridgemere Road on Wednesday December 5 at 7.30pm.The local Crime Prevention Officer will be present for discussion and advice. Refreshments will be available. Admission is free.

A WHIST Drive for all who enjoy a friendly game of cards will be held in St Augustine’s Hall of Christ Church on Thursday December 6, 2pm. The cost is £2.50 per person. For more details ring Gladys on 720885.

THE Friendship Club for senior citizens meets on Thursday December 6 in the lounge of Duke Bernard Court, Latimer Road, 2.15pm to 3.45pm. PANTOMIME will be the theme of a Ladies’ Lunch Club meeting when David Horne and Paul James present Villains and Dames on Tuesday December 11 at the Langham Hotel, noon for 12.30pm. Gentlemen are allowed to join the ladies for this festive lunch and bookings can be made on 731451.

A CHRISTINGLE service will be held at Christ Church, Seaside, on Sunday, December 9, at 4pm. The candlelit service celebrates the coming of Christ as the Light of the World, and the significance of the orange, ribbon, sticks, sweets and candle that make up the Christingle will be revealed. Donations will go to The Children’s Society.

THE RNLI, local branch, which usually meets on the second Friday of the month, will not have a meeting in December. Meetings resume on January 11. For information about membership and the work of the RNLI, call Derek on 735970.

A CAROL SERVICE will be held at Christ Church, Seaside, on Sunday December 16 at 6pm. There will be many traditional carols and favourite readings. Christ Church choir will be augmented with singers from Glyndebourne Chorus. For details, email
