A COFFEE morning will be held at Christ Church, Seaside, from 9.30am today (Wednesday), when there will be a few stalls and a small raffle. Free computer training for senior citizens is also available. A short Mass in the Memorial Chapel follows the coffee morning at 11.30am.

ESK Gardening Club meets tomorrow (Thursday) when experts will speak about their favourite plants, and will also invite club members to talk about theirs. The Gardening Club is free and meets every Thursday in the summer months, usually 5.30pm-8pm, with a variety of talks, demonstrations and workshops. Experts are on hand to answer gardening queries. Members also receive a 10% discount on plants. BROADCASTER and newsreader Nicholas Owen will be guest speaker at a Literary Lunch on Tuesday, June 19, to mark the publication of his autobiography Days Like This. The lunch will be at the Langham Hotel, Royal Parade, noon for 12.30pm. There are a few places left, which can be booked on 731451.

TICKETS are available for a Diamond Jubilee Quiz Night in St Augustine’s Hall of Christ Church on Saturday, June 30, starting 7.30pm. There will be rounds about the Queen and the Royal Family, plus events and prominent people throughout Her Majesty’s reign. CHRIST Church’s new Parish Priest has just been announced. He will be Fr David Charles, currently vicar at Waldron in East Sussex and formerly curate at Willingdon. Fr David will be licensed by the Bishop of Lewes during a service at Christ Church on Monday, August 13, at 7.30pm, and officially begins his duties on September 1. He looks forward to becoming part of the local community.
