SEASIDE Neighbourhood Panel has a public meeting tonight Wednesday), in St Agnes church hall, Whitley Road, starting 7pm.

All residents with any concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour in this area are encouraged to attend to air their views.

The meeting will be chaired by Jane Dubery, and representatives from the police and members of the local council will be present.

IVOR Novello is the subject of two Ladies’ Lunch Club lunches on Tuesday, May 8 (ladies only) and Wednesday, May 9 (open to everyone), when Big Band leader Paul Davis and West End singer and actress Jacquie Toye reveal the life, world and music of one of the biggest stars of the early 20th century. Novello had great success at a young age when he composed the song Keep the Home Fires Burning, before becoming a huge star in the silent films, then a playwright and composer of many popular musicals. The lunches are at the Langham Hotel, Royal Parade, noon for 12.30pm each day and can be booked by calling 731451.

ITEMS are currently needed for a Jubilee Fair at Christ Church on May 26. Good quality products, and any red, white and blue material for making craft items to sell, can be taken to the church on Wednesday or Thursday mornings. HAPPYJACKS Soft Play is a new Drop In and Play Group for 0-5 year olds, which has just started at St Anthony’s Centre, 557a, Seaside (opposite Lidl). A FUN Casino Night in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children will be held at the Langham Hotel on Friday, May 18 at 7.30pm.

Organised by five students, all proceeds will go directly to help the work the hospice undertakes to support terminally ill children and their families. The ticket price of £15 includes entry to the event, buffet, £10,000 in fun money, musical entertainment and a live caricaturist.

A grand prize will be awarded to the person with the most chips at the end of the evening. There will also be a raffle, with a range of prizes donated by local companies.
